Information on the cemetery’s establishment is not available, but it was marked on a map from the 1880s. It can be supposed that it was partially demolished after WWII. The Jews began to settling in Stara Sil’ in the early 17th century. In the 18th century, a Jewish community emerged. Salt extraction was the main area of the employment. Jews were active in salt trading. A synagogue was built in 1765 and ruined during WWII. The Jewish population numbered 416 (31% of the total population) in 1880 and was reduced to 211 by 1921. In the early 20th century, many Jews emigrated from the town. The Wehrmacht captured Stara Sil’ on July 2, 1941. The Jewish population was deported to the Sambir ghetto in March and August 1942.
