Site Address:
The cemetery is located on Sfantu Gheorghe Street. Coming from Ovidu Creanga Street, face away from the Lyceum “Alexandru cel Bun” and proceed straight until you reach Sfantu Gheorghe Street. The cemetery and the gate will be on your right.

Type and height of existing fence:
The cemetery is surrounded by an old metal grid fence.
General Site Condition:
Fenced and protected Jewish cemetery. The cemetery is abandoned and some parts are overgrown. The territory is used for livestock grazing.
Number of existing gravestones:
Around 200. There are 150 old and 50 new tombstones. About a third of the old tombstones are broken.
Date of Oldest Tombstone:
1871 (oldest tombstone found by ESJF expedition). Presumably, some tombstones date from the mid-19th century.

Urgency of erecting a fence:
The cemetery needs to be re-fenced.

Specific Threats:
The cemetery is used for livestock grazing, which may damage the gravestones. It is also possible that the neighbouring households will expand their plot and will seize cemetery territory to do so.
Drone surveys:

The cemetery was also used by the Nisporeni Jewish community.

It seems that a part of the cemetery located outside of the current fenced area has been demolished and transformed into a garden and a pigsty.
