Historical overview

The exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown. It is marked on a Red Army map of 1941. No other information about the cemetery is known.

There is not much information available about the Jewish community of Zhovte. It is known that there was a sizable Jewish community in the 19th century and that they survived a pogrom in 1919.

According to the census of 1897, the total population of Zhovte numbered 5,072, of whom 3,815 were Orthodox Jews.
There is no information on a modern Jewish community in Zhovte.

The exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown, although it was active until 1918-1919. The cemetery was demolished in the 1960’s and there are now no gravestones remaining.
