Verkhniy Rohachyk Jewish Cemetery
The exact period of the cemetery’s establishment is unknown. Given that the oldest preserved tombstone dates to the mid 19th century, it can be gathered the cemetery was founded in that era. It cannot be found marked on old maps of the region.
Verkhniy Rohachyk (Ukr. Верхній Рогачик, Rus. Верхний Рогачик) had a Jewish population of 629 in 1910. The Jewish community maintained a prayer house and a cemetery. According to the 2001 census, there were no Jews in Verkhniy Rohachyk and the neighbouring areas.
It is not known when the cemetery was founded. The only identifiable date on a gravestone is 1866. According to local residents, most of the gravestones were used for construction.
